Why does Sade feel guilty?

* Why does Sade feel bad about hiding the truth when they arrive in London?

Sade feels guilty about hiding the truth to others when they arrive in London because she is heavily influenced by her father. It is the way her dad taught them in the past years since she was young, so they know it is not a responsible thing to do to tell a lie. The evidence of this is when the book tells you that Sade knows her father's words. That is, 'The truth is the truth. How can I write what's untrue?'. (pg.6) Also, her thoughts/attitude towards the lie they had to carry were stated on page 12, 'Uncle Tunde was expecting them to go along with a lie! Both children turned anxiously to Papa'. (pg.12) Sade could figure out that she was doing something that is unreliable and she had to act against her beliefs, this is demonstrated in the novel when it said 'Uncle Tunde no longer hid his agitation.' (pg.12) In conclusion, Sade feels guilty for having to hide her reality as she is influenced by her father, and the personality she was naturall born with.
